Do you write in German, but need a native German speaker to polish your writing? I offer German proofreading and copyediting services to serve this purpose.

Editing and proofreading by a language professional and native German speaker ensure that you say what you wanted to say, and that your German writing is clear, concise, and compelling. When I’m finished with your text, it will read as though a native speaker wrote it, which ensures that your audience focuses on your message, not on its presentation.

What is the difference between copyediting and proofreading?

When copyediting, I make suggestions and changes to the text to improve its linguistic and stylistic quality. I point out any inconsistencies and ensure all your writing is concise and clear. If you have a company style guide, I also ensure your text adheres to it.

Proofreading, on the other hand, focuses solely on fixing spelling and grammatical errors, as well as inconsistencies in formatting in the final version of your German text. I ensure all of your texts employ correct German punctuation (such as German quotation marks, and non-breaking spaces in front of units.) The end result is a flawless German text. Correct German punctuation makes sure your readers focus on your content, and it gives your text a more professional look.

How much do German proofreading and copyediting cost?

Every text is unique. Send me your documents and I will give you a free, no-obligation quote for your project. Depending on your preferences, I can either work on an hourly or per-word basis. My per-word rates for proofreading are lower than my copyediting rates, but both steps are crucial in the publishing process.

How does it work?

First, you’ll send me your texts, along with information on the goal of the text, why you’re translating or writing it, and your project timeline. I’ll keep all this information strictly confidential. After reviewing your documents, I’ll send you a quote for what it will cost to complete the project, along with a delivery date.
